Darla moved to Kingman a few months ago from the Phoenix area to be with her husband Julio, who is the Administrator of our sister facility, The Gardens Rehab & Care Center. Like so many, I’m another Southern California transplant. I now live in Bullhead City. The spectacular mountain views, lack of pollution, and traffic all contribute to my love of this place. I originally came here after my grandmother suffered a stroke. I was her caregiver until her death. It was a challenge, given the stroke and comorbidities, but the experience led me to the field of health care, which I had never considered before. I became a Certified Nursing Assistant, then a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and finally a Registered Nurse (RN). The experience has given me a broad, if not unique view of nursing and the provision of care. My commitment to education exemplifies my devotion to providing the best for those in my care. Working in MDS/Infection Prevention allows me to utilize critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills to affect a greater number of people. I’m a lifelong learner who enjoys learning new things, so I do that in my off time as well as at work. Although I also enjoy doing nothing during my off time, I also enjoy the outdoors, perhaps as a counter to the busyness I experience at work.
